In days gone by, there were many parcels of lakefront land bought by families as cottage estates which stayed in those families for many years. The Eastbourne community was once a farm of 200 acres sold and used as cottages bought by people of means. The hub of the community, the members only Eastbourne Golf Club was  designed by a pro from Toronto's Rosedale Golf club and has been a draw for many a golf champion. "Eastbourne Estates" is a new  area of fine homes within this sought-after location.
